Training on Deploying Incident Management Systems (IMS) in Resource-Limited Settings

Incident Management Systems (IMS) provide a standardized structure for coordinating emergency response through clearly defined roles, processes, and communication channels. In resource-limited settings, however, deploying IMS can be challenging due to constrained staffing, weak infrastructure, limited logistics capacity, and fragmented coordination systems.

This course equips participants with practical, context-adapted strategies to design and deploy IMS effectively in low-resource environments. It draws on operational guidance from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, emphasizing scalability, flexibility, and efficiency.

Participants will learn how to adapt IMS structures to available resources, assign roles strategically, streamline communication, and maintain coordination under constraints. The training also covers integration with Public Health Emergency Operations Centers (PHEOCs), field-level operations, and multi-sectoral collaboration.
